Exploring the Fragility of Memory: Photography, Materiality, and the Disappearance of the Family Album in the Digital Age
This series of works delves into the role of photography as a medium for constructing both personal and collective memory. Examining how visual documentation shapes both individual and collective recollections, the works also reflects on the impending disappearance of the family album as a tangible object in an increasingly digital age. Drawing on the album’s materiality, the work repurposes found photographs to create evocative compositions that interrogate the fragile nature of memory and the loss of personal history in an era of technological transience. Through this exploration, the installation engages with themes of nostalgia, preservation, and the evolving ways in which we archive our lives.
